아침에 프로젝트를 담당하고 있는 매니저로부터 메일 한통을 받았습니다. 저희 프로젝트 스케줄상 중요한 이벤트를 성공적으로 끝내서 고맙다는 내용이있는데요.
중요한 이벤트를 끝낸다는 표현이 어렵지는 않았지만 입에 딱 붙는 표현이 아니라 공부해보기로 했습니다.

우리는 중요한 이벤트를 달성했습니다.
먼저 milestone 이라는 단어를 알아보면, 이정표, 기념비, 중요한 사건 등을 의미합니다.
milestone

n. (IMPORTANT EVENT) an important event in the development of histoy of something or in someone's life
따라서 hit a/the milestone이라고 하면 글자그대로 기념비를 치다라는 표현으로, 목표를 달성하다. 혹은 새로운 기록을 세우다. 와 같은 의미를 지니고 있습니다.
hit a(the) milestone = reach a(the) milestone
reaching a point where someone made measurable progress
예문) Blackpink's Kill This Love took two days and 14 hours to hit the milestone - beating the record held by Psy's Gentleman.
Blackpink의 "Kill This Love"가 싸이의 젠틀맨이 세운 기록을 뛰어넘어 2일14시간 만에 새 기록을 세웠다.
