지난 주 회의시간에 고객사와 현재 저희 프로젝트의 문제를 논의하면서 향후 진행할 Action Items를 도출했습니다. 이번 주에 그 진행상황을 공유하려고 메일을 쓰다보니 중간결과를 영어로 표현하기가 애매하더라구요. 그래서 구글링을 해보니 중간결과를 나타내는 적절한 단어는 없는 것 같습니다. 다만 각자 상황에 맞춰서 사용할 수 있는 표현들은 몇가지가 보여 상황별로 중간결과라는 의미를 가진 영어 표현을 공부해보려고 합니다.
중간결과라는 표현을 생각했을 때 가장 먼저 떠오른 것은 "intermediate result" 였습니다. 그런데 intermediate 의 의미를 찾아보니 중간결과를 표현하기에 틀린 단어는 아니지만 제가 표현하고자 하는 의미에는 딱 맞아 보이지 않았습니다. 오히려 레벨이나 학습자의 상태를 표현하는 중급자라는 의미에 더 적합해 보였습니다.

interim에서 파생된 숙어인 "in the interim" 은 그 사이에, 그 동안에 라는 의미로 사용할 수 있는 표현으로 meanwhile 과 같은 의미입니다.

티스토리에 중간결과라는 영어표현을 설명하신 부분을 보니 상황에 따라 다르겠지만 tenative results 와 같은 표현을 사용하는 게 더 좋을 때도 있는 것 같습니다.

초기결과보다는 더 나은 결과를 내는 것이 무척 중요합니다.
