얼마 전 고객사에서 보내온 프로젝트 Specification을 읽다가 "on the fly"라는 문구를 봤습니다. Specification을 읽을 때 간혹가다 본 적이 있는데 그땐 급해서 찾아보지 않고 그냥 넘겼습니다. 그런데 오늘은 마침 여유가 좀 되고 읽으려는 문장에서 이 문구를 제외하면 해석이 안되서 찾아봤습니다.
문장 안에서 on the fly 는 도무지 무슨 말인 지 유추가 안되더라구요. 그래서 그 뜻을 찾아보니 일반적으로는 "즉석에서, 그때그때 되는 대로"라는 의미를 가지고 있습니다. 그리고 IT에서는 방해없이 이미 동작하고 있는 컴퓨터 프로그램을 의미합니다.
